Noida Airport Renamed Narendra Modi International Airport

Noida International Airport to Be Renamed After PM Narendra Modi

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved renaming Noida International Airport in Jewar as Narendra Modi International Airport. The proposal was cleared at a Cabinet meeting held on Friday.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the move marks 25 years of Prime Minister Modi in public office, counted from his first day as head of a government on October 7, 2001. He said it also reflects the state’s appreciation for the Prime Minister’s role in Uttar Pradesh’s growth. The Cabinet also adopted a resolution congratulating Modi on the milestone.

Adityanath described the airport as a major gift to the state and said it would boost UP’s economy, industry, tourism and international connectivity in the years ahead. He called it the largest airport in the state and said it would grow into one of India’s leading aviation hubs, working in tandem with the state’s expressway network.

Speaking about Modi’s career, the Chief Minister said it has been shaped by the values of service, dedication and putting the nation first. He also noted Modi’s ties to Uttar Pradesh as the Member of Parliament from Varanasi, saying the bond has grown from political representation into involvement in the city’s development and spiritual revival, and in the state’s progress more broadly. He credited the “double-engine” government, with the same party in power at the Centre and in the state, for creating a new work culture around development.
